The Good Metaverse – a playbook for a better internet

We start a broad dialogue regarding responsibility and ethics for the Metaverse with The playbook The Good Metaverse. It is our goal to make the digital world better and to learn from the mistakes of Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. The playbook contains seven chapters with 42 statements leading towards a better internet.

The holistic view of the BVDW puts the economic and technological aspect of the Metaverse next to the social significance of the digital space. “The Metaverse is an opportunity for all of us to design a better internet. We are still at the very beginning and still have the opportunity not to repeat old mistakes and not to make new ones in the first place”, says Carsten Rossi (Kammann Rossi), Head of Lab Metaverse: Society in the BVDW Metaverse department), lead author of the playbook. Together with Stefanie Scognamiglio, deputy chair of the BVDW Metaverse department, Daniel Zellmer, Lab Metaverse: Society in the BVDW Metaverse department, and Chris Wuebbeler, Business Development Manager at 42Digital the whole Team developed seven theses towards Good Metaverse. The Chapters include “Starting a Dialogue”, ethics, economy, innovation, diversity, articipation and the well-being of people.
